Balmoral Place Retirement Community is seeking an organized and proficient individual to fill our role of Maintenance Manager.  This is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to participate as a member of the management team while maintaining the physical appearance, furniture and equipment in the beautiful brand new community.
In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for areas including:
  • Establishing, maintaining and ensuring the satisfactory operation of preventative maintenance programs including the Planning and implementing of regular daily, weekly, monthly and yearly schedules of preventative maintenance tasks to ensure the home and equipment are safe and in good working order;
  • Performing duties concerned with maintenance of grounds, parking lots, driveways, etc., including landscaping, clean up, snow removal, except those performed under service contracts.
  • Inspecting the grounds daily ensuring the residence is presentable for guests;
  • Ensuring operation within approved parameters of the weekly, monthly and annual department operating budget;
  • Sourcing and orders services/supplies focusing on obtaining the highest quality for the most reasonable price;
  • Maintaining the appearance and upkeep of the home by implementing regular painting and decorating plans and ensuring all furniture and fixtures are operational and in good repair;
  • Maintaining inventories of departmental supplies and re-orders as assigned; keeps a stock of commonly used supplies;
  • Conducting regular fire and emergency preparedness drills;
  • Provides minor building, electrical, plumbing and equipment repair services to ensure the optimum functioning of the home and equipment – coordinates with external specialized service providers for support as required; 
  • Identifies and investigates physical deficiencies and equipment malfunctions and takes the appropriate corrective action;
Picture
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience as a maintenance worker in addition to:
  • Demonstrated skills in light carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting and equipment maintenance;
  • Knowledge of building code, fire code, RHRA legislation as it pertains to maintenance issues, and all other pertinent legislation as it pertains to retirement homes;
  • Working knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, fire equipment,  sprinkler systems, and inspection/servicing and testing requirements;
  • Must understand how to run regular  fire drills;
  • Certificate from a program in general maintenance (an asset).
