Position: Health and Wellness Manager
Location: Collingwood, Ontario
 
Balmoral Place Retirement Community is seeking an energetic, motivated individual to fill the role of Health and Wellness Manager in its beautiful Retirement Community located in Collingwood, Ontario. This is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to participate as a member of the management team and to ensure the residents enjoy an exceptional lifestyle and quality of care.
The successful candidate will be responsible for areas including:
  • Participates in and manages the assessment of all resident applications to determine appropriateness of placement facilitating all move-in assessment and/or discharge documentation as it pertains to the residents care needs;
  • Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation relating to the care required by residents ensuring that residents receive care to meet their needs;
  • Monitoring and recording pertinent residents care needs and co-ordinating all nursing actions relating to the prescribed medical orders and ensuring that the resident is involved where appropriate, in decisions concerning his/her care;
  • Participates in Care Conferences as appropriate, meets with resident’s family to resolve problems/concerns/complaints;
  • Advocates on behalf of the residents and families to ensure a high quality of care and service;
  • Establishes priorities based on individual resident’s needs, schedules activities and adjusts these priorities and activities to manage unanticipated events;
  • Participates as the leader of the care team and provides support to the other members of the team, directly oversees all Resident Service Attendants (Care and Housekeeping) and Registered staff;
  • Co-ordinates and monitors the Infection Control Program for the residence, understands, teaches and practices universal precautions;
  • Liaises with RHRA inspectors respective of any investigations related to: education of care staff or resident care or abuse allegations;
  • Is able to assume the responsibilities of the General Manager in her absence;

In addition, the successful candidate will be required to promote high quality care while maintaining a safe and healthy environment for residents, resident families, visitors and staff.
 
Strong communication skills are essential, as is the ability to provide leadership and delegate appropriate activities to the multidisciplinary care team.  Minimum three (3) years of experience as an RPN registered with the College of Nurses is required with experience in the seniors housing industry preferred.
